Grappling Club
Albany Campus
Welcome to Massey University Albany Grappling Club!
It is our aim to provide a positive and social environment where students from different disciplines can come together to learn and share the various grappling arts. This encompasses Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Freestyle Wrestling, Judo, MMA and more. With this, we are trying to create a uniquely fun and memorable experience for Massey University students, different to most other sports clubs.
Whether you are a beginner who has never tried a martial art or a competitive veteran, this club is a safe space for you to learn new and practical self-defence skills or refine what you already know. It is also great fitness, burning more calories per hour than a treadmill while being much more mentally engaging.
All skill levels are welcome. We have professionally coached beginner friendly BJJ classes every Monday and Wednesday. We also have a more advanced training that is uncoached on Fridays, known within the BJJ community as an open mat. The option for some limited striking training is also available here.
By completing this form https://forms.gle/7pghmcBjifqy6oyCA, you will have access to TWO FREE training sessions to see if the sport is for you. NO FURTHER COMMITMENT REQUIRED.
