Meet your Student Representatives

Te Tira Ahu Pae have a Tripartite structure, with three Presidents (General/Distance, Manawhakahaere - Māori, and Pasifika), with equal authority who are self-determined to represent and lead student representatives from their cohort.

Each campus (Ōtehā – Auckland, Manawatū, Pukeahu – Wellington and Pāmamao – Distance) has a Vice-President who leads, coordinates and supports the student representatives at each location and represents the needs of the students studying there.

Each campus has a General, Kaiwhakahaere - Māori, and Pasifika Student Rep, and Distance has three General Reps and one Kaiwhakahaere - Māori and Pasifika Rep, in recognition that over 50% of students studying at Massey do so by distance. There is also an International Student Rep and Post-Grad Student Rep.

Below are the current student representatives for 2025.

    Ko Kaupokonui te moana

    Ko Keezia toku ingoa

Kia ora! My name is Keezia, I am a first year student studying a Foundation’s Certificate towards a Business Pathway for 2025.

As Kaiwhakahaere, my kaupapa will focus on strengthening community engagement for  Maori akonga studying off campus.

It is important to me that Maori akonga are heard and feel supported, connected and empowered in their academic journey by advocating for better resources, cultural inclusivity and support.

Beyond university, I am actively involved in many community roles, including serving on the Palmerston North Youth Council for 2025. Through these roles, I have gained a deep understanding of what it takes to be an effective leader—someone who listens actively, communicates clearly, and brings people together to create meaningful change.

My māhi during the duration of being Kaiwhakahaere for 2025 will be guided by the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

If you see me on campus you're more than welcome to strike up a conversation or email me.

I am a third year student at Massey studying Speech and Language Therapy.

Tauira Māori have been an important part of my university journey so far. Two and a bit years ago, I returned home after living most of my life overseas, to connect to whakapapa, and to find my feet professionally. The support and aroha I’ve received on this journey of mine since moving has been immeasurable, whether that has been academic, cultural or personal – there has always been someone that has had my back.

I see this role as an opportunity to be of service to and support tauira Māori on their academic journeys. I also want to mihi Shayne Sullivan, our previous kaiwhakahaere, for doing a stellar job last year – thank you for your mahi brother, noho ora mai.

This is an opportunity for growth within my community — a means for our voices to be heard fairly. I am committed to ensuring that this year is one of strong support and equality for Massey tauira. Alongside Te Tira Ahu Pae, I am honoured to serve as your student representative. Ngā mihi nui i te iwi.

Having served as a Class Representative in 2024, I have gained valuable insight into the profound impact of effective student representation in driving meaningful change. As Vice President of the MUASLA club, I have had the privilege of working closely with students, honing my ability to advocate for and support our community. With my Sri Lankan heritage and international student experience, I deeply understand the importance of embracing diverse perspectives and fostering inclusive representation.

Hi, I'm Louise. I'm a 36-year-old mum based in West Auckland, currently studying a Bachelor of Sport and Exercise by distance, with the aim of becoming a Secondary School PE teacher.  As a distance student, I’m passionate about improving the experience for others, not just academically but socially, by creating stronger support networks and opportunities for meaningful connection. When I am not studying, you can find me spending time with family and friends, enjoying live music, or being active outdoors with a love of camping and fishing. I'm deeply committed to building a sense of community—both through my local connections and within the distance learning environment.

  • distancerep.2@tetiraahupae.ac.nz

Hi! I am a proud Pasifika woman, born and raised in my maternal home, the Cook Islands. Throughout my life, I have been blessed to live in South Auckland - New Zealand and now, Australia. It is an honor to be part of Te Tira Ahu Pae again, serving our Massey University students and community in the distance space.

I am in my final year and have been studying both part-time and full-time, pursuing a Bachelors of Arts degree, majoring in Social Policy. As a Social Policy major, it wouldn’t come as a surprise that my interest lay primarily in wanting to understand and know the ways in which societies and states across the world meet human needs. I take my role seriously, and I am not here to just fill space but I aspire to make a difference, however positive and possible way that may be, ensuring to meet the needs of all distance students in the Massey University distance community. One of my main goals as a general student representative this year is to work closely with the distance team to make the distance space a more inclusive, engaging, unified, joyful and positive experience for all distance students. I also aim to work very hard for distance students and to be a strong and powerful voice for all students across the distance space.

“When you live for a strong purpose, then hard work isn’t an option. It’s a necessity.” - Steve Pavlina.

Kia ora! My name is Georgia and I am looking forward to being your Massey General Representative for 2025! Having just finished my BA in psychology and sociology, I am starting the honours portion of my degree in semester 2. I am currently based in Melbourne, but was raised in the beautiful Hawkes Bay and enjoy escaping to the sea when I can. Additionally, I love reading and breaking down themes and 'plot hints' in movies and tv shows. In my professional life, I work in child welfare in a supportive and character developing position, enjoying working with those who have had a tough start and just need someone to hear them out. You may already know me as the 'yapper' on the Massey Distance facebook page, and should definitely expect more of that from me in the future! I am always happy to have a chat, whether that is University related or just to share that you brought some grapes at a great price! Feel free to reach out to me at any stage, I can't wait to work with you and figure out how to best support you!

I'm Eloise (they/them), I graduated with a BSc in Ecology and Microbiology, and am completing my postgrad diploma in Science. I was a co-founder of Disability at Massey (DaM), and I'm looking forward to continuing to serve my community this year. I'm neurodivergent (autistic and ADHD) and a mobility aid user, with hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and the bonus diagnoses that often come with it.

I have a strong sense of pride in my identity as Disabled, and I also participate in the mahi carried out by the National Disabled Students Association (NDSA). I'm interested in physical and digital accessibility, policy, providing accessible resources, and improving experiences for students with both Massey University and Te Tira Ahu Pae. I can also often be found crocheting through meetings and lectures as a way to keep my hands busy!

Manawatū Disability Student Rep

  • DisabilityManawatu@tetiraahupae.ac.nz

Hello! My name is Eleanor and I am the Manawatū Disability Student Representative a part of Disability at Massey - DaM and more widely Te Tira Ahu Pae.

Currently I am a second-year student at the Manawatū Campus studying a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Psychology and History.

As a Disability Student representative, I strive to support and represent the needs and accessibility of Disabled and Neurodivergent students / students with Disabilities and Neurodivergence attending Massey University on the Manawatū campus. Why? Because all students with Disabilities and Neurodivergence deserve to have their voices and accessibility needs heard in tertiary institutions. I strive for all of us to have an equal and equitable experience just like any other student studying at Massey University.

A little about me is that I identify as Disabled and Neurodivergent. I have been moderately to severely deaf/Hoh since I was two years old and have been wearing hearing aids ever since. Recently I've been reconnecting to the Deaf Culture and have been learning NZSL when I can. I am also Dyslexic, and come from a family with several family members that are also Dyslexic. I am wholly proud to be disabled and neurodivergent in a world that still continues to undermine the Disabled and Neurodivergent communities.

I look forward to starting my journey in working alongside the Neurodivergent and Disabled communities of DaM and at Massey University and Te Tira Ahu Pae.

Please do not hesitate to contact me by email as shown above, all are welcome.
