[Subject Line] Urgent Concern Regarding the Decision to Defund Te Tira Ahu Pae.

To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing to express my concern regarding the recent announcement to defund our students’ association, Te Tira Ahu Pae. This decision not only impacts the operations of the association but significantly affects the student body as a whole, myself included.

Te Tira Ahu Pae is a foundational part of student community. Their support of student initiatives, and advocacy for the interests of the students of Massey University rely on maintaining the independence of the association. I urge the administration to reconsider this decision and engage in a dialogue with students and Te Tira Ahu Pae to understand the importance of the association and the consequences of its defunding. A collaborative approach would be more beneficial in addressing structural concerns while ensuring that student needs and voices remain the priority.

Funding services and providing students a voice to ensure their concerns are not ignored requires the association to remain outside the governance of Massey University, and the choice to remove this independence and contract them under the university itself is not a decision I as a student support.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your response and hope for a resolution that reflects the strong wishes of us as students to maintain Te Tira Ahu Pae.

Sincerely,
